All about Drama!

Hello SaintPaulers! Did you know that the 10th graders are working on something exciting? Starting from early March to the 7th of April, the 10th-grade students will be working on a very interesting project assigned by Miss Ones.

In this project, each student was divided into groups of 7-8 members. Each group will adapt fairytales, folklores, or even fables! After choosing the story, the students will work together to make a script and divide the roles to each member. Every student in the group has an essential role. All students must partake in creating the drama; some will take on acting roles, while others will be in charge of narrating, editing and directing the drama.

The purpose of this project is to give the students a deeper understanding about narrative text. But what exactly is narrative text? Narrative text is a type of text that tells a chronological story, often imaginative or adapted from real life. Narrative texts are commonly used to entertain readers. Examples of narrative text include fairy tales, fables, folklores, legends and many more!

The project also requires a lot of preparation before the shooting. They must rehearse their scenes, prepare simple costumes and properties, and decide the location and the filming dates. Once everything is ready, the students will begin to film. In many cases, they will run into one or more mishaps, which is why retaking scenes is a common occurrence while making this project. After filming, the drama isn’t finished just yet, the students will move on to editing, including cutting clips, adding transitions, sound effects, and many more. Editing is an essential part of this project, it results in a more polished result of their hard work.

You might be wondering if this project is actually fun or not. To find out more, we asked one of the students, “It was a lot of fun to work on this project, especially because we worked together with our friends. And more importantly, through this project we became more unified as a team.” said Marcello Lionel Salim from class X-3. It turns out that this project isn’t just fun but it also trains each student to work together.

From this project, the students learn new skills, such as learning to direct a small drama, editing, and also acting. Not just that, they also learn important skills in communicating, teamwork, and creativity. Even though there will be a lot of challenges in creating a drama, the experience will be meaningful to everyone.

We can’t wait to see the final results of the drama videos created by the amazing 10th graders. Stay tuned, Saintpaulers!
